Spruce Haven Park Master Plan, Saskatchewan

Introduction

Nadi Group assisted the City of Melfort, Saskatchewan, with the development of a comprehensive recreation green space master plan for Spruce Haven Park. The city envisioned the park as a vibrant community park and signature city destination, emphasizing culture, health, leisure and play.

Project Summary

The master plan was designed with three objectives in mind to achieve the client’s vision: create a unified park, strengthen the park’s presence along Shadd Drive, to celebrate and protect the site’s defining character elements. We created the master plan to include amenities that provide and support passive and active recreational opportunities, maintain and strengthen linkages between surrounding public spaces and neighborhoods, ensuring the park space programming is appropriate for the community’s needs. These will eventually include a proposed multiplex, soccer pitches, festival and park pavilions, and increased trails, picnic areas, splash park, playground skate park, mini golf and gathering areas.

Our Role

Nadi Group designed the Spruce Haven Park master plan to have durability and used Crime Prevention through Environmental Design guiding principles that included opportunities to incorporate local culture and perspectives into the discussion.
