Rose Lake Green Court, Manitoba

Project Overview

Introduction

Rose Lake Green Court started with an idea to design a centrally located sculptural water feature—that would act as a neighborhood beacon and recreational splash pad— for the Bridgwater neighborhoods. Bridgwater is a new neighborhood in south Winnipeg.

Project Summary

The fountain sits at the top of the hill, featuring a fully accessible splash park where children can run safely through vertical jets of water. We extended branching paths in all directions away from the plaza, connecting them directly to each area of the Bridgwater community. We added LED lighting throughout the plaza, adding a dreamlike evening elegance to the fountain and carrying its singular presence into the night. As we surveyed potential locations, there appeared to be a problem: there was no acceptable place for a standalone pump house. Luckily, we pride ourselves on being innovators and problem-solvers, so we built a hill with an underground pump house in it. We added a compact storage tank that sits immediately below the fountain, enhancing the efficiency of the sustainable and recirculating water system. We constructed the tank to be universally accessible and easily maintained.
