Pointe Hebert, Manitoba

Project Overview

Introduction

Pointe Hébert is a small infill development located on a bend in the Red River near St. Boniface and close to Downtown Winnipeg. With client participation, Nadi Group developed an image database through study trips to Chicago, finding inspiration from best-practice neighborhoods, such as Chicago’s Lincoln Park, Highland Park and others. We further refined the database with input from St. Boniface residents and the City of Winnipeg’s bylaws.

Project Summary

There are approximately 30 lots in total in Pointe Hébert. The lots are extremely narrow in diameter and intentionally modest to complement the existing area’s harmonious and diverse architecture. We applied that same philosophy when designing the homes, too. Our commitment to the client's vision also extended to the selection and teaching of appropriate homebuilders, and any necessary reviews, modifications and approvals of individual house plans. We maintained a close relationship with the homebuilder to ensure the home designs would express the unique qualities of this distinctive neighborhood.

Our Role

We developed precedent-setting architectural guidelines for Pointe Hébert, reflecting Qualico Communities’ vision for an eclectic, historically relevant infill neighborhood while paying tribute to the area’s French heritage.
