Kindersley Town Square, Saskatchewan
Project Overview
Introduction
The Town of Kindersley requested our help with the design of a new town square. They required four schematic designs, including graphics support material for community-based engagement and decision-making sessions.
Project Summary
As the site is a central location, with the town’s new water tower prominently located, Nadi Group incorporated many components into each schematic design such as a splash pad, picnic areas and outdoor performance spaces. We took current and future population growth into consideration by including a variety of walking paths, bike parking, and opportunities for winter activities to support cultural events and encourage active lifestyles. We featured Kindersley’s pioneer history and its prairie grass landscapes to celebrate the town’s agricultural and prairie landscape while maintaining a contemporary design for the new town square.
Our Role
Nadi Group presented our designs to the public, producing a 3D animation of the site for them to view and a budget for each schematic design. As part of Kindersley’s community-based public engagement component, the public voted on which scheme they prefer and then the committee made a recommendation to the city council. The project is now in design development.
