K.W. Nasser Plaza, Saskatchewan

Project Overview

Introduction

Located near the bank of the South Saskatchewan River, the River Landing Development will become one of Saskatoon’s premier destinations. Triovest, on behalf of the private development consortium, enlisted Nadi Group’s expertise to design an innovative, world-class central plaza and water feature nestled between three new towers.

Project Summary

The client envisioned the K.W. Nasser Plaza to serve as a high-value public gathering space for the towers’ hotel and condominium residents, as well as an attractive year-round amenity for the office and commercial tenants. We took inspiration from Avenue Five Central Plaza and Water Buildings in Seville, Spain, the Pier 4 Plaza in Boston, Massachusetts, and Yorkville Park in Toronto, Ontario (to name a few) to create three concept designs for Triovest. We explored a mix of hard and soft surfaces, using unique paving patterns and native trees, plants and grass species. We also examined incorporating a number of public amenities in our designs such as a feature trellis with café style tables and chairs, a lawn with a water wall and mist, and a playful water area with sculptural seating.
